Yes to the modifications if they were needed, no to the price hike.

I used to unblock multiple toilets that were apparently my fault. I haven't come across a genuine problem with the soil pipe yet in 18 years. After the legislation change in 2011 any shared pipes are now the responsibility of the utility companies it meant i was able to stop clearing out other peoples...

Question about LHA if you live with a roommate
I've had an enquiry from somebody who says they are eligible for LHA 1 bed rate and want to share with a friend in a 2 bed property. Does anybody know if the full 1 bed rate applies if you are sharing etc etc.
Thanks

But what if I’ve already got 5 years left to run on an inspection carried out in 2015. Is it 5 year starting from now? It isn’t clear. My electrician says NICEIC are saying stuff has to be upgraded to 18th edition but they are money grabbing *****s.

so does my 2018 EICR need to be redone now, in 2023 or 2028? Sometimes these changes are only valid after the cut off date

gotya. this makes more sense but teh governemtn website isn't clear. Electrical standards have to be met but this doesn't necessarily mean 18th edition. Just electrical standards based on the inspection...

I think it's slightly unclear on the government website. SO i had 2 consumer units installed in 2018 17th edition. Not dangerous but not 18th edition. Some of the difference for example are boxes have to be metal now and were plastic before. This doesn't make them dangerous but they aren't 18th edition...

so basically everything has to be brought up to 18th edition? it's annoying as some of the new consumer units went in a few years ago and aren't dangerous but will be 17th edition....

In case that isn't clear another example is i had an electrical inspection report carried out in 2018 signed of for 10 years. Is the new report due in 2023, 2025 or 2028?
2023 if 5 years interval from date of last inspecition
2025 if 5 year intervals from introduction of regulations...

Electrical inspections
I've booked my electrician in to carry out any checks that need doing before the new regulations come into effect. I've always had the electrical inspection reports carried out anyway and have a question about these existing reports. I've just been speaking my electrician and he isn't sure about this....
