Pay wife a wage to administer property as she does not work currently

Hello, new to the forum, hoping to get some info regarding taxes.

I work full-time, my wife does not work currently, can I pay her a wage to carry out administration tasks for property I own ?. Each year I do a self assessment, I find I am paying back ££'s, except for lately as there were losses brought-forward from a bad tenant.

Yes. At a market rate, do not over-egg your pudding.

Your wife will need to register as self employed and pay IT if she earns more than her tax exempt allowance. You other option is to have a declaration of trust drawn up making her a benefical owner in your property. There is much discussion whether Form 17 is required if you are the sole owner. Search on Declaration of Trust and read the threads.
). If you have multiple properties you will need a D of T for each one. Regards Peter
