Has anyone on this thread ever heard of Freeman on the Land? And if so, what is your opinion about it?

Also, can a landlord tell me the difference between tenant in lieu and tenant in situ?

Here's an idea David. Instead of berating LL's about who they chose to rent out to, why don't you become one yourself. Then the poor people who are 'frisked and checked' needn't be, can take your house off you, provide shelter for themselves and live a carefree and happy life with you as their laid back landlord. With regards to 'making it hard' to rent a house. It's not hard is it. For people who are in the market of renting it's just normal. For people who go to work and get paid, it's normal. You're just wondering why you can't get the private house that you want, as a 'normal' person would, with the money given to you from taxpayers.

No because we are all stupid white capitalist, greedy, money motivated male landlords. You need to ask Mr Singh, he'll know.

If you know all these chivalrous, altruistic, laissez faire, Asian landlords that don't require credit checks, references, guarantors or ask awkward questions then why are you wasting your time contacting loads of hostile, uncaring, capitalist, white, British landlords and going through their hundreds of obstacles?

If you weren't such an honest, moral, religious type I'd think you were just making it up.

            Good wind-up though!

My thoughts exactly. There's only one reason you'd even ask about that view point IMO. #hipppy #nonconformist

I have heard of them and seen them in action - they are all bonkers.

Most likely that she won't; that is because whatever the reasons for her situation she is a Bad Credit Risk, and as such it is highly likely that I won't get my rent paid if I choose to take her on as a tenant.

Of course, 'twas always thus. Plenty of employed people have a bad credit history, for many reasons, and if they are unable to balance their bank account and pay their rent each month, then thanks but I'll pass on them as a tenant too.

You're right that in effect private landlords cherry-pick the 'best' tenants, but how else could it be? If some future government decided that in future private landlords were, say, only allowed to let to benefits tenants, then I and most other landlords (or at least the white ones )would give up letting instantly. There would then be a huge reduction in the number of properties available for rent, and the councils would be even more inundated...

I have. It is a legal equivalent of pseudo-science.

My view of religious texts is that there used to be the original, but over the years a lot of "fan fiction" crept in. Ut became the word.

having seen Jews Muslims and 3 years ago Buddhists fretting over getting a person buried quickly, i doubt it was the word if god.

just someone asking wwgd or wwbd about bloating stinky corpses before we invented cold beer and fridges to store it.

the same applies to a lot of dogma and practices that has become sacrosanct. In 2014 you shouldn't have to smell a persons bodily waste because they were told not to touch their behinds. We have anti bac and indoor plumbing and hot water instead of sand now.

but like not taking rent, its one way of doing your business.
