Fair enough, I guess it may have been a previous relationship or donor sperm or something like that. I last watched EE in 1998! Ben was a bairn and Gillian Taylforth was up to stuff in the back of a car!! I was tired of having misery inflicted upon me twice a week so haven't watched it since.

I know, that's why I stopped watching it - so depressing!! I haven't been a follower of it since Angie left - she was a character.

Corries my favourite - at least you get a laugh as they do have some really funny people in it. Actually, I'm watching Corrie now on catch-up :-)

A more miserable programme than Eastenders has yet to be devised. If life in the East end of London is really as dog-depressing as that, why does anyone still live there?

If you want to hear a cockney accent then you go to Essex.

If you want to visualise much of East London ( save exceptions like Canary Wharf Docklands and some of the old Squares) watch Slumdog Millionaire, but add drainage and flats.

Intelligence & stupidity are not necessarily mutually exclusive (eg my brother....)

He must be distantly related to one of my brothers .........

Even the most able and intelligent like to watch something easy on the brain- brain candy- but like sugar which rots your teeth, EastEnders and Corrie will surely rot your brain.

What I would like to know is why someone wants to watch a program that often shows life at its most bleak, and not watch something uplifting or just takes you away from everyday life?I am sure the Queen watches her EastEnders, Downton Abbey...

Can't UK gold commission MTG, in the landscape of the Dales in " It shouldn't happen to a Decorator*" ?!

                What's up with Shabnam?

When she was first in the soap, she had long locks & was shocked when Zainab bought her a Burka for a visit from her aunty.

Since back from Pakistan she only takes her headdress off when she's at home, revealing a pixie crop.

How were Linda and Shirley able to sell the 'freehold' of the Queen Vic, when Phil Mitchell was the freeholder?

Who's Linda and is Phil still alive? I don't think I've caught more than 30 seconds of this series since I started the thread 4 years ago lol.

Linda is one of the joint lessees of the Queen Vic. Phil is still alive AFAIK, but I haven't seen him for a while.

I heard Peggy pegged it! Totally out of touch with that programme. We need fun and laughter in our lives not all that doom and gloom and shouty stuff :-)

I will let you all into a secret.

Eastenders is a fictional T.V. program, it's not real, so who cares who does what.

Unfortunately, most of it is real life for a lot of people, Dannn saaff, which puts Britain into a state of "Not a very nice country to be in", and not pleasant to be around people.
I have only seen a bit of Eastenders by accident while flicking through channels, and every time, someone is shouting and arguing.

Did you know that Indian call centers are forced to watch Eastenders, for an insight into the British culture. ? God help us if Eastenders is the norm.

With reference to licenses for pubs, such as the Rovers Return or the Queen Vic, all that is required is for the scenery guys to paint a new sign over the door, none of yer applications to a court or being a fit an' propa person to run a pub.

I admit that I'm looking forward to the day the local supermarket in Corrie (Freshco?) buys the pub and turns it into a local grocery shop, or is that EE?
