Yeah, it's a fowl idea. Don't egg him on any more though

      At least double the deposit
And not just the monetary deposit.

Just spoke to Housing Benefit and they say if the tenant is claiming fraudulently, the LL does not have to repay.
Not sure how I feel about this. As a taxpayer, I'm outraged, but as a landlord, I can see the logic.

The tenant in this case has called out for an emergency service to get server reinstated faster than the standard service
Definitely not landlord's job to replace 'servers'.

            Lack of action: Boiler issues

It is in a cupboard outside, off the porch. So turning it on/off involves going outside and I'm not really wanting to do that
Sounds like lack of tenant action also.

Those people I know who have or are renting, take it as a matter of personal pride that when they leave the landlord sighs, and accepts that the house is clean enough and the damage has been repaired to a satisfactory standard, and they get their deposit back.
I usually sigh also. Not a sigh of relief though.

If i lived ther and yoiu did not change the locks, I would sue you for every penney you had, for failing to prevent stangers with keys entering the building.
                Couldn't agree more/mhor/moor/moo.....

Whatever the freeholder asks for, is not unreasonable.
                  Only if you're a freeholder.

Surely if you are employed to write press releases, you should be able to spell.
"Poultry" fines would be chickenfeed to most landlords.
Quite so. Destroys all credibility, really.

Likely to be down to carelessness (ie, failing to spot an 'autocorrect' change) rather than an inability to spell as such.

                      Same thing applies though...

can I use the interest on the £126k against the tax man
Not a good idea to try to blackmail HMRC.

Not your place to correct Members in this manner. Either stick to answering the question as best you can or just ignore it if it offends you (for any reason).

.... hat lenders are now searching the Internet...
Lending hats sounds a tad unhygienic to me, especially to randomers on the internet.
