"...building built in 212, no asbestos..."
Surprised the building's still standing, but I don't thing asbestos was often used back then...

Who should dispose of old matters from furnished property, myself or landlord ?
What matters are you arguing about?

We allowed 3 dogs and were told they would be housed outside and they intended to build a kennel. This hadn’t happened,
I'm amazed anyone still believes a tenant when they say something like this.

          At another place
I own a flat in a building that has one number but 3 flats. Each flat has its own council tax bad.
          Agreed, Council tax bad!

Just realised what an appropriate word 'crappy' was in this case.

Hi, this is more of an info post that I hope will save people some time. I came across a boiler comparison tool on Warmzilla that helped me to find the right boiler by comparing them against each other. I don't have a clue about boilers so it really helped me to get an idea of what was available, hope it helps someone else.

They also have a survey where you answer some questions about your property and they'll recommend boilers to suit the requirements.
But what if I'm happy with my old boiler? Don't let her hear you call her that, though.

That's quite a long notice period, even for covid times.

I "tested" the toilet several times after fitting and because it's one of these modern ones (concealed cistern), the flush is indeed weaker than your traditional loo. Although it seemed up to the job when i used it those times.
How big a 'job' did you give it?

I am trying to move house. We're a family of 7, 2 adults and 5 kids. The amount of places that have maximum occupancy of 5 is so disappointing.

I'm wondering, is there any problem with lying about how many kids we have? Would the landlord ever find out?
Simple. Just show up with the 3, then when they come to inspect, say you just adopted the other two.

Very true, in terms of the planet (never mind the Universe) we are incredibly short lived, so we just can't grasp the enormous amounts of time involved.

And it's not just going forward, we are short sighted looking back as well even when we have records*.

I'd like to think I'm focused on the next 200 years or so.
That seems to me to be a reasonable period to try and plan.

200 years ago it was 1821 and the world was a completely different place, and (ignoring the odd flukey guess) I don't think anyone then could possibly have predicted...

I'll get it off my chest - I'm fed-up of all the panic surrounding Global Warming / Climate Change.

I'm more pi**ed off at the forced cost to us all - when it will mean absolutely nothing.

And that's where I'm going to bow out on this one.

It doesn't really matter if we agree or not as none of us can change what's been decided and thankfully none of us will be around when things really go pear shaped.

IF Australia refuses to give up on mining, burning and selling coal for instance, the easiest ways for them to fall into line are (a) do not trade with them (b) let them carry on and reap what they sow.

IF the UK faces coastal flooding - address coastal flooding in the UK - heat pumps and...

When you have 15 minutes, have a read of the link I added a few posts ago. It is certainly NOT denying the existence of Climate Change nor the need to take action.

Geologists are able to see what happened tens of millions of years ago in some detail - and when you're talking about a 100...

But you're talking about changing the behaviour of everyone on the planet and that's going to take time.
And the changes are already happening, so we need to take some action to delay what may be inevitable, so we can make some adjustments.

Right now there're are lots of people who...

But that's the whole point - we should be focussing our energy and money on ADAPTING to live in these climates, because no matter how much we dislike it, the change IS going to happen.

IF the Worlds population is growing too quickly, we need to address that too.

                                  But it's easier...

                                  Why?

Perhaps most obviously because the timescales for natural and anthropogenic climate change are completely different.
