" The man might be a chef doing some work in his restaurant, but the point of this ad campaign is that they actually don’t want you to think of the most likely explanation."

Why would he buy a brick hammer, then?
That's a specialist type of tool.
When I post, I am expressing an opinion - feel free to disagree, I have been wrong before.
Please don't act on my suggestions without checking with a grown-up (ideally some kind of expert).

There is no more odious and damaging economic policy that comes from the heart than rent control... but one West Coast state aims to be the first to implement statewide rent controls.

Hmm. But who is going to want to buy an expensive new flat across the hall from benefit claimants?
The government says separate entrances "stigmatise" social housing tenants in new developments.

Yeah it's a joke -- and the BBC told the story in their usual -- let's give half the story to keep the politicians happy -- approach. Not a word about how builders were forced to build economically and socially dysfunctional buildings to fulfil a political agenda. We should try apply this to other things in society -- posh £600 a head eatery in London not allowed to serve customers unless they also serve a few pimps each day from the local brothel. Music school for talented concert musicians not allowed to teach unless they also enrol me with no musical skills whatsoever.

Achieving equity in society in every domain is never possible, nor is it sensible.

The Rt Hon James Brokenshire MP, Her Majesty's Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, continues to provide increasingly solid evidence to back up the already developed, but hereto slightly tentative, hypothesis, that he is in reality a complete wazzock.

I think you are missing a point, you may have 0 musical skills due to lack of opportunity - as your parents didn't enroll you to the school or lacked the funds to do so.

You may be a virtuoso waiting to be discovered.

Equality is an interesting word, but stats are stats, if your school tells you you are a hairdresser or a nurse, you are not going to apply to become a doctor in 99.999%.

the current world based on the economics of growth is unsustainable, growing inequality only makes things worse.

Not that unusual to have council houses and flats near better off areas. Still no meaningful and definitive list of the proposed benefits anywhere.

It really is not complicated. The UK cannot leave the withdrawal agreement without the EUs permission. Therefore we could be stuck in it forever if we cannot agree on all matters. The EU will decide when and if to release us. If you think that acceptable Marcomia then there is, indeed, no hope and no...

                            Far from it.
Withdrawing from the EU at all is not in the best interests of the UK, but if we are going to do so (despite the fact that there are no clear benefits from leaving - at least, none that 'leave' supporters seem able to provide and justify) leaving with a withdrawal deal in place, like...

But Argentina didn't go bankrupt in the sense that a company did.
Argentina is still there, it recovered and has repaid most of the debt it initially defaulted on.

Again, Zimbabwe is currently restructuring its currency and debt.

Newspapers and other media talk about...

I have already stated that Argentina went bankrupt, and people could not get their cash out of the banks.

Zimbabwe . In June 2019, the official inflation rate was 97.9%. Because the country is bankrupt.

I know that countries pay interest on their loans (I even mentioned that in my post - that the cost of borrowing varies with the situation the country finds itself in).

But the UK can't go out of business or become bankrupt like a company (and if it did start to wobble, the impact on the...
