I think we should save monarchy as the major part of our history and as the part of "British charisma"

        ME!

Well no, I don't want the job. (The wages would be nice).

TBH the obsession with the monarchy only still a thing for touristst (mainly Americans) anyway.
And the BBC for some reason, I guess they are pandering to the USA.

And I've seen some really daft (stupid) you-tube clips from british people.

Here up North we don't bother anyway who is sat on a big chair down south - if it gets really bad then we'll raise a rebellion.
(Oops doesn't always work, The last big one though was about the government not the Monarchy.)

If the Monarchy is abolished - who would be President?

            Another useless career Politician?

            No thanks

Keep the direct Royals for novelty value and tourism, bring all spending into the hands of a Royal Committee allowing only what is necessary - luxuries to be paid from private wealth, Get rid of all the hangers on - noone other than those in direct line to the throne to get any payments and then based on work done. Sorted.

Today there are 44 monarchies in the world, 16 of them with the Queen as their head of state. On November 30 this year there will be 43 monarchies, 15 of them with the Queen as their head of state. One day it'll be zero and zero.

Once they have uses their private wealth on luxuries, they could put a claim in for LHA for their multi-bedroom house in central London

Unsure they'd get away with claiming any rent benefits for Windsor etc etc though.

I guess Ive no major issue with Queen, Charles and William (and 1st born) getting real state financing to keep the tourist fantasy going.

None of the others should get anything at all. We do have a massive shortage on HGV drivers, care workers etc.

I DO have a major issue with Charles as King though, Id rather they were all lined against a wall before that happened.

I agree re tourist fantasy but not re Charles - the attraction is the tradition and what has gone before. To change it would ruin the "fantasy"

I was thinking more Scargill than Guido Fawkes, guess you had to be there at the time.

The Crown Estates is the biggest landlord in the country, so maybe they should be members here.
The revenue/income from Crown Estates goes directly into the Treasuary though, they have enough from other sources.

How long until we see these minor royals turning up on TV shows as 'celebrities' - let's face it you have never heard of most of them (modern 'celebrities' or minor royals).

She amongst other things (eg Duchy of Lancaster profits) gets 25% of Crown Estate profits. (Sovereign grant). Which is then spread about as seen fit (no civil list any more).

Suspect that P**d* Andy's legal costs are thus covered.. Saw him in Windsor Great Park a week or so ago, driving very smart black range rover ending ...DOY (presumably vanity plate for "Duke of York".) I hailed him with the two-digit Churchillian salute.

Id have wasted less energy and given him just a one finger salute.

Royal family on a budget is a complete waste of time! You have to go full bling or it doesn't work.
