Has anyone else heard about the 'reset' and that we won't be allowed to have money in the bank or multiple properties? It does sound far-fetched but I would have laughed in the face of anyone who said we'd have lockdowns etc, this time last year.
Covid and Conspiracy Theories Re Landlords

The great reset is essentially a sort of green international socialism.
It's a set of political beliefs just like any other set of political beliefs.
The conspiracy theory is that there's a global ruling group who plan to impose it on the world.
Which is madness. When I post, I am expressing an opinion - feel free to disagree, I have been wrong before.
Please don't act on my suggestions without checking with a grown-up (ideally some kind of expert).

Yes, I've heard of the Great Reset, and am very concerned by it. People might well consider it fake news if they have tried to google it, as results won't come up.
I think that rather than seize our properties directly, they will just pile on more & more regulations and taxes which will make them worthless. Eventually we will beg the government to take over our rentals to relieve us from paying the service charge.
It's now all but impossible to get rid of a non paying tenant. How much is such a property realistically worth, even today?

It's hardly a deeply-kept secret...

The government wants people to be spending money to keep the economy going, which is why they've kept resisting lockdowns in England far longer than they should.
The idea that there is "a great reset" planned is nothing more than a ridiculous conspiracy theory.
The ease with which people buy into rubbish like that is depressing, but there's no indication that things will get any better any time soon - it seems like over 50% of the public find it impossible to tell fact from fiction (and many wilfully isolate themselves in echo chambers where their delusions are reinforced).

I suspect that most serious conspiracies tend not to publish books about it...

That's good progress! It's at least one less thing to be concerned about.

by CodgerMy neighbour is cutting blocks for their drive and making big dustclouds. Luckily for me the wind is blowing it away but if it was not I would be breathing cement dust and my car would be smothered as well. Is there a wet dustfree way to cut up blocks?

Reply to Cement dustby nukecadHand saw and/or hammer and chisel. (Yes you can get hand saws for concrete).
It's power tools that create a lot of dust.
In workshops you have vacuum extractors, but on site hardly anyone bothers.-

Reply to Cement dustby 1600eNo. I've used both types cutting concrete building blocks, dry- the dust was terrible, wet and there was practically none but I had to wear water proof suit or I got soaked.
