Covid and Conspiracy Theories Re Landlords

Has anyone else heard about the 'reset' and that we won't be allowed to have money in the bank or multiple properties? It does sound far-fetched but I would have laughed in the face of anyone who said we'd have lockdowns etc, this time last year.

The great reset is essentially a sort of green international socialism.
It's a set of political beliefs just like any other set of political beliefs.

The conspiracy theory is that there's a global ruling group who plan to impose it on the world.
      Which is madness.
When I post, I am expressing an opinion - feel free to disagree, I have been wrong before.
Please don't act on my suggestions without checking with a grown-up (ideally some kind of expert).

That said I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised at a raid of bank accounts or properties (e.g. you pay over to the police state 5% of all your assets above 1 million). As usual, Londoners in the expensive houses will be protected, because the chattering Hampstead class (of whatever political party) are our rulers. The little guy in Barnsley will be the one to be hit and hurt.

I have money for retirement which I now think I should use to help my son buy a house. It's like they want us not to spend, what with the lockdowns etc. So the next question would be - why do they want us to keep money untouched?

Yes, I've heard of the Great Reset, and am very concerned by it. People might well consider it fake news if they have tried to google it, as results won't come up.

I think that rather than seize our properties directly, they will just pile on more & more regulations and taxes which will make them worthless. Eventually we will beg the government to take over our rentals to relieve us from paying the service charge.

It's now all but impossible to get rid of a non paying tenant. How much is such a property realistically worth, even today?

Be very careful - you could end up broke in retirement and that would be no fun! We all want to help our kids but don't do it if you can't afford it.

Do you think that might be related to all of the conspiracy nonsense that you are constantly reading?

                It's hardly a deeply-kept secret...

"They" don't want us to keep money untouched.

The government wants people to be spending money to keep the economy going, which is why they've kept resisting lockdowns in England far longer than they should.

The idea that there is "a great reset" planned is nothing more than a ridiculous conspiracy theory.
The ease with which people buy into rubbish like that is depressing, but there's no indication that things will get any better any time soon - it seems like over 50% of the public find it impossible to tell fact from fiction (and many wilfully isolate themselves in echo chambers where their delusions are reinforced).

I suspect that most serious conspiracies tend not to publish books about it...

Yes, I have the book. It's a lot of fluffy PR nonsense.

This afternoon it was a very concerning conspiracy, hidden from google. But in just a few hours you have managed to not only find it, but to read the book, and determine that it's just fluffy PR nonsense.
That's good progress! It's at least one less thing to be concerned about.

Sarky so & so. It's the book that's PR nonsense. Not the reset itself.
