Hmm. I've been missing Landlordzone, but I hope the present form is not the final one. I can't seem to call up the latest post on a subject, but have to scroll through from the start. Anyone else managed it?
The forums are temporarily disabled while some essential maintenance being conducted.

Update now seems to mean "The user interface has been changed in a minor but confusing way with some useful functionalty removed"When I post, I am expressing an opinion - feel free to disagree, I have been wrong before.
Please don't act on my suggestions without checking with a grown-up (ideally some kind of expert).

I'm guessing that the underlying software has been reloaded or updated, and has reverted to default settings.
It can take a while for admin to put all the custom settings, 'tweaks', and add-ons back when that happens - if they can remember them all or have kept a list.
Usually you get the forum up again as a priority and then sort that customising stuff out.

Well we still don't know just what happened.
As there was no warning that maintenance was going to take place, and as it went on for a couple of days, then I'm guessing that it wasn't something planned for and so couldn't be pre-tested for.
If it was something like a catastrophic server breakdown then the priority would be to get a new server up and running, get the forum back on line, and then sort out the settings.
I'm sure that most would rather see the forum with missing functionallity for a while rather than no forum and just an error message.

Look different to me on multiple computers and browsers.

I mean, what's with that giant padding, with everything else squished into tiny little space? And yes, nothing immediately obviously clickable to take me to newest post.I am not a lawyer, nor am I licensed to provide any regulated advice. None of my posts should be treated as legal or financial advice.
I do not answer questions through private messages which should be posted publicly on the forum.

Well best wishes to Tom & his team for getting the operation back up. The thing about computers, it's not IF it goes wrong but WHEN.
I expect a few techies sweated blood for days to get this sorted (no idea what went wrong..).I am legally unqualified: If you need to rely on advice check it with a suitable authority - eg a solicitor specialising in landlord/tenant law...

There's not much difference between a web site that's not there and one that you can't use.
And the complete lack of any explanation or update makes things worse.

Reply to Sanity prevails in the Countryby scot22Loanarranger I don't think you have anything to apologise for. Sadly it has caused a reflection of how society is.
Jp I think we share a similar philosophy. I particularly support your last sentence. Unfortunately, too much is now allowed to pass.
Unless room can be allowed for doubt...-

by loanarrangersanity has prevailed and Landlords do not have to fear the draconian proposals of Corbyn and McDonnel, I am a very happy but very person having survived on Red Wine and Crisps throughout the night.

Reply to Sanity prevails in the Countryby jpkeatesTo be fair, I don't think I'm trying to "educate" Mr Dodd, he's not at all ignorant.
He and I (rather clearly) disagree on this particular subject, but I don't think that that's because I know more about it than him, we have just seen the same things and understand them differently....-

Reply to Sanity prevails in the Countryby loanarrangerI apologise for making my initial post, my intention was to simply state that sanity prevailed and the much maligned Landlords could breathe knowing that the policies on correcting the perceived situation governing the Private Rental Sector much promulgated by Mr Corbyn and his cohorts could be Let...

Reply to App Idea: Tenant Review Website?by JK0I'm just imagining tenants withdrawing their consent to be mentioned by a particular landlord if he leaves a negative review. Rather like 'check a cowboy' in fact.

I've literally just thought of this app idea this morning, and thought I would ask on here to get an initial idea of its feasibility.
The simple explanation, it would be a place where landlords and agents go to review and rate tenants at the end of their tenancy. I have various thoughts...-

Reply to App Idea: Tenant Review Website? It seems to me that this will only work if the tenants give permission, otherwise you will hit severe data protection issues. Unless the vast majority give permission, and there is some way to distinguish between lack of permission and lack of renting history, I can't see any way of making this work...

Reply to App Idea: Tenant Review Website?by scot22I respect your attitude and sense in looking for feedback. Perhaps I was not clear that I'm not negative to change but always question.
In my own main field, education, I've seen millions wasted jumping on hand wagons. In reality which have created more problems and wasted much time.
Best...-
