    Moving out due to Repairs

Hi everyone not sure if this is the right place to post, but could not find any other forums. I rent a private floor flat in Scotland.

The landlord has told me they will do some renovation work on my flat at some point this summer, but has not given me much detail other than the roof needs repairing due to water leaks and ingress. Also that he will have all the woodwork painted(windows, doors, skiting etc) along with other minor repairs.

I don't know yet, but I want to pose the question, to know what my rights are. But can my landlord ask me to move out while the roof works are carried out. I'd imagine they likely don't need access to my flat, but you never know.

Also regards that and the other basic work like painting doors and windows which is prob 1-2 days work. If I'm not comfortable leaving them to do the work while I'm out at work can I insist its only done when I am there?

I also mean move out while the works are carried out, but then allowed back of course.

I am a tradesman and I reguarly do work in peoples homes and am deemed trustworthy

Your landlord has a duty of care to ensure he or she uses appropriate tradespeople.

Raise your concerns with your landlord and ask if he has checked if the people doing the work are registered with any governing bodies or trade associations
It may also be good to find the details of the compaines coming to your home and call trading standards to find out if they are known to them.

If you are worried then don't leave valuables lying about (thats just common sense)
