EICR failed due to immersion tank reset button

Just had a EICR conducted and the electrician has failed the report as he stated that there was no reset button on the immersion tank. Would this be classification to fail the report?

    Yes.
    It is a cheap fix.

The thermostats you get now have a secondary thermal cut out built in, they are about £15

    Screwfix do them

Thanks, I know it's cheap to replace and fix, but surprised the whole certificate would be failed on it. I'll get the titanium one's as the property's in a hard water area so may last a little longer.

This was brought in after a plastic water cistern ruptured in a loft after an immersion thermostat failed and brought 50 gallons of boiling water down on a kid in a cot
The baby died as it had over 70% burns.

The EU changed the law to require all thermostats /water heaters to have one fitted as standard.
