  • A bit of a mess
    Procrastinating
    Hi,

    Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. My reason for posting is that my wife has found herself in a bit of a mess with her pre-marital home which is in Wales. When she moved out she let the property, initially to a friend of a relative. It seemed like a stroke of luck so when...

    We're currently renting a property there's been a few problems so far - we only got the keys on the 19th and the following day discovered there was a blockage in the bathroom drain - slow draining bath and when the sink was run debris bubbled up from the bath drain. The letting agent was informed on...

    Assuming the insulation is in good condition, it may even be safer, because the water will cool it!

    Not particularly desirable, but the water would have to run uphill for any real risk.

The diverter valve was replaced but we've been left with 2 leaks - one is leaking on to electrical cable from the time - is this safe? until he comes back tomorrow, we've been told to turn the water off over night. He's been on to the landlord suggesting a new boiler...

    I don't remember him ever explicitly setting it out, but I think it's simply that he read "that has effect for the time being" to simply mean the version in effect when you're giving it....

  • Management contract advice
    MrQ
    I rent my property via a letting agent using their fully managed service, for various reasons I need to switch to another management company. I have given notice in writing to the current agents and I have received the response below. I believe it is only the first 6 months of the agreement that I could...

    Give the agent two choices;

    1. Let me take my property and my tenant to another agent and we’ll agree a reasonable period of notice/settlement figure to terminate our contract.

    2. You give my tenant notice and you have to manage that situation through to it’s conclusion....
