    Let Mortgage

Viewed a house we like, asked the LA for proof of the LL's right to let. They reply that the LL has provided the appropriate documents to prove their right to let the house, but won't show me because of "data protection". However, they say that they have it on file and it is therefore their responsibility if anything went wrong. What are people's thoughts on renting with this LA? I have been told that I should be more worried about the LL than the LA.

Do you mean proof that the landlord is allowed to let the property by a mortgage lender or that they own it at all?

You can check on the latter at the land registry for £3.00 and the former isn't something that should be much of an issue for you.

    Have I missed something?
When I post, I am expressing an opinion - feel free to disagree, I have been wrong before.
Please don't act on my suggestions without checking with a grown-up (ideally some kind of expert).
