Are we responsible for external gas meter cupboard or is the gas board?

I have been requested by the council to replace the broken door on the gas meter cupboard that is outside the property.

Would this be my responsibility or the responsibility of the gas board~?

Are you property owner, tenant, housing association responsible for thousands of properties, agent, student doing research??

How long has door been broken??
I am legally unqualified: If you need to rely on advice check it with a suitable authority - eg a solicitor specialising in landlord/tenant law...

Possibly different for residential but we are tenants in a commercial property at work and I was told it's our responsibility.

Ask Centrica, that maintain the meter register.

Well if you did NOT damage the box..... and IF it is the responsibility of the property owner (the landlord) then it should be either they or their insurance company that fixes it, if you did not damage it then why would you be responsible for it ? Give the supplier a call as i understand that its the property owners responsibility as i have had to replace my box recently (normal residential house) as it was too close to a garden post for a new smart metre to be fitted.

We(landlords)have always been told by the utility companies that it is our responsibility to fix the doors. the want it fixed, as the meters are open to the elements and get faulty, and then need replacing at their cost.
We have never got them fixed, as it is not an easy job. At most we put some polythene over it to make a "door".
Allow tenants to protect their own deposits. I want free money when they do it wrong
