Would you evict a lodger/tenant for any of these problems?

    - Constant slamming of entrance doors and fridge door (although not at night)
    Is it slamming or is there nothing preventing them from slamming closed on there own. Some doors do this.

    - Getting small stains on the carpet, and generally not keeping room clean
    Small stains come from living. No one lives in a show home. Check your own home, you may be surprised./ Not keeping room clean. What does 'clean' mean?

    - Leaving hair clogging the bath/shower
    My hair falls out in bucket loads, it's like having a dog. I remove hair and do a drain unblocking treatment at least every two weeks. (£1 shop drain unblocker)

    - Coming back late at night e.g. 1am or leaving early in the morning and not being very quiet
    Again some people are just not that aware of others and don't realise how loud they are. This may not be intentional. A quite friendly word may help (non accusing of course)

    - Using many electrical appliances (if bills included in rent)
    What is many and what is normal in this technological age. Maybe you should increase your prices to reflect utility costs in a tech dominant world.

    Are any of these deal breakers - wouldn't think so as they are all justifiable or solvable and not necessarily intentional.

    There was an item on the radio a week or so about how often people changed their sheets: (urrggghhhhhh!).

    Someone said when the biscuits crumbs got too annoying....

    Good suggestion Griff but as you know, cooking is women's work and squarely delegated to her and I wouldn't want to encroach into her designated part of the house, the kitchen. This would involve me breaking a habit of a lifetime.

    The solution to that is to buy 2 tubs of butter. You'll get through them anyway, before they reach their use by date, so it doesn't really matter... hide yours behind something, put the other in plain view.

    My girlfriend is a door slammer.

    I think she doesn't really realise. She's not generally in a huff, it's just the way she closes doors. And I don't always mean she "throws" the door closed, even if she pushes it closed all the way it makes more noise than when I do it. She's simply a dufus with doors. If I could ask her to leave I might consider it, but she pays [almost] half the mortgage.

    I've tried to explain it to her... I've said "I wonder if you're angry" and she looks at me, bemused, "no, of course not"... "so can you stop slamming the doors, then?" - "I'm not slamming the doors"... I'm probably as sensitive as sophie86.

    Using many electrical appliances made me laugh. Simple... divvy up the bills on some kind of basis that makes sense instead of doing an all-inclusive.

    Simples. If you are not happy with the lodger, give them reasonable notice and return the house to peaceful tranquillity.
    We have to assume you have already discussed your list with the lodger and they have chosen to ignore your request. In which case, remove the problem (or your perception of the problem)

    If it is your main/primary residence the person is prob a lodger. We need to know hy/where you live when not in this property to be certain.

    I take it you have no teenagers in your family.

    Your lodger
    Your issues with their behaviour

    You're not being forced to live with this person so if getting rid of them would ease your worry and make you happier then just do it.

    I'm the landlord and I live here half the time.

    The fridge slamming makes me worry the fridge might break.. but perhaps I'm overworrying? The house kind of shakes ever so slightly whenever he slams something

    I just want to know if I'm being reasonable or if I'm concerning myself too much

    Is landlord a trifle sensitive? What does tenancy/lodger agreement say on these points.

    Any fridge that can be slammed should be replaced.

    Who chose the tenant/lodger?

    Surely the point of having an appliance is to use it: next time insist on no more than 3 appliances.

    Depends how sensitive you are - try getting a bald lodger next time - that will get rid of the hair issue.
