  • Assured Tenancy (NOT Assured Shorthold)

    Hi,

What are the disadvantages as a Landlord in letting a property under an Assured Tenancy ? Getting facts on this on the web is proving quite tricky.

Once an Assured Shorthold Tenancy has commenced it can be converted to an Assured Tenancy simply by sending the Tenant a letter.

Deposit Protection law applies to Assured Shorthold Tenancy's BUT DOES NOT apply to Assured Tenancy's. Right?

    Thx !

    M.

No section 21. Eviction of tenants may be high impossible. Insurance & mortgages may be very difficult to get. Agents, tenants & solicitors may not understand. Changing later to ast very difficult.

Still used by some housing associations.
I am legally unqualified: If you need to rely on advice check it with a suitable authority - eg a solicitor specialising in landlord/tenant law...
