At least it sounds like you know there are 13 4 week periods in a year, rther thn 12.
I've had great fun tryig to explain that one.
With part payments etc set it up as a weekly payment sheet and have a column to keep the balance rolling, I find it easier than a set month one then there are spaces for prt payment and top up - as some months there should be 2xrent and2xtopup.
Rent arrears make no sense to me.

For crikeys sake - this is simple maths
Open up Excel or Google Docs - theres even an appropriate template in the latter https://drive.google.com/previewtemp...EE&mode=public
shove in all the amounts you or housing benefit have paid and an entry for each due rent payment and it will tell you if you are in credit or debit and by how much.
Ignore the £50 'arrears' issue - that in itself may have been a mistake - go back at least until when you knew you were up to date but preferably to the start of the tenancy.

The money has been sitting in my account waiting to be paid and I paid £300 over the period anyway.
Is this a case of thinking all tenants are guilty? I am good at paying rent normally to the point landlords never really complain about me.
Wheras this landlord has a list of faults, a roof ready to collapse as they are too tight to pay for repair, plasterwork that collapsed in bathroom, broken washing machine, cheaply installed cupboards that fell off the first time I used them, and a biggie is that he is too lazy to repair lights in stairway requiring everyone in block to carry torches to enter or leave building.

I find it very strange how many tenants suffer from identity fraud and had money taken from their account. I have lost count of the amount of tenants who have told me that when their rent is due.
Also I am supprised how the local councils manage to keep going with the amount of "miskakes" they make with HB payments especially in the lead up to xmas.

That brings about more confusion as the council says they pay every 28 days but looking at rent statement sometimes it takes 10 days from payment sent to show as paid on statement.
I was going by the simplest calculations which is why I said £350 max.
I have a copy of rent statement I can email to someone if they can work it out better than me.

This a generic query, does not matter which country or I am paid every 28 days by council so diregard that.
Basically landlord claims I owe £525 arrears, my working out would be £350 max but more like £300 or less.
Back in may £50 arrears were owed, rent due is 400 per calendar month, rent paid was £325
Counting this months due and paid payment is 8 months so £3200 due
Rent paid is £2600 so including arrears is £650
£300 already paid off so max £350
The confusion may arise as originally back in may due to the 28 day payment it came about 10 days late, and 3 days earlier every month means it is paid at beginning of this month so about 2 weeks early but still as I say I am counting payments made not the dates.
Is there another way of looking at it?Tags: None

by fpyardsI moved out of a flat a few days ago. While I was in the flat there was a leak due to a punctured pipe in a wall cavity that the landlord is claiming a deduction from our deposit for repairing.
The total cost being claimed is £492.50 for the plumber's work and £180 to repair the wall....-
