    Non regulated market for lettings

Hello. I'm in dispute with local estate agents who run both the buying and selling of proprties and a lettings side as well. I'm fully aware that that there is no obligation for lettings agencies to belong to a redress scheme, but, they are oblidged if they are in the business of buying and selling properties. This particular Estate Agents do not belong to any regulatory body at all which is illegal. The problem I have, is that no-one seems to be interested in following this up. I've been onto Citizens Advice, the Property Ombudsmen, Trading Standards and no-one wants to know? Does anyone know exactly who I can report these Estate Agents to?

Any old twit can set up as a letting agent: Anyone surfing these forums could be up 'n running as an agent within an hour - no regulation, no training, no qualifications, no criminal records check, no nuffink! Labour was going to bring in letting agent regulation - guess what Dave decided to do...

      Sorry, stuffed!
I am legally unqualified: If you need to rely on advice check it with a suitable authority - eg a solicitor specialising in landlord/tenant law...
