Meet the Landlord Trader team on 27th November

    Dear all,

Once again, Landlord Trader is having a Property Networking Evening, which we do every once in a while. There will be 100 or so investors swapping stories, ideas, maybe plugging the odd investment too.

It's a very relaxed affair, just bring plenty of business cards! Here are the details:

    When: Monday 27th November 2006, 6.30pm - 10.30pm
    Where: Verve Bar, 1 Upper St. Martin's Lane, London, WC2H 9EA, Verve-Bar.co.uk
Who: All serious property investors welcome
    How much: Free

Looking forward to seeing you there,

    Dan Haysom

Why oh why are most of these things nearly always held in London? Probably because:-

    a) It's difficult to get in and out of and therefore time consuming unless you are already there! And you wouldn't dare drive there!
    b) Few buy-to-let investors have "that sort of money" outside the capital
    c) It's only relevant to "monied" people if you want to buy in the city as nobody else can get a look-in.
d)If you are thinking of buying abroad it's just about covered by any number of estate agents in your local area.
    d) It would take me the best part of 2 hours to get there and the same to get home.

Therefore I shall give it a miss on the basis it's totally irrelevant.
The advice I give should not be construed as a definitive answer, and is without prejudice or liability. You are advised to consult a specialist solicitor or other person of equal legal standing.

      Hi Paul,

Just to let you know that the networking evening isn't for landlords looking for investment in London (far from it) it is for people in London interested in investing full stop.

Most of our investors on Landlord Trader are looking for investments outside of London, the North East and West, Midlands, etc, where the yields are still reasonable (if you look hard enough at any rate).

Since there are thousands of investors living in London and investing in the North, it's hardly surprising that most networking events are held in London.

It's just a get-together for investors of all ages and levels of experience to trade ideas and swap stories with eachother.

      All the best,
      Dan

Ah yes............ the London mob! In 1998 I remember a friend of mine who lived then in Devon telling me that it was quite impossible to buy in Devon or Cornwall. Apparently, as soon as an estate agent published the details of a property for sale, he received a telephone call from some individual or other in London offering the asking price unconditionally without even a viewing!
I don't know if anyone "caught a cold" because of this policy, but it was one of the factors which got me to start investing in property (much more carefully) a year later.

        P.P.
Any information given in this post is based on my personal experience as a landlord, what I have learned from this and other boards and elsewhere. It is not to be relied on. Definitive advice is only available from a Solicitor or other appropriately qualified person.
