Return of undisputed part of deposit

    Hello,

I have moved out of a rented property almost 3 weeks ago and I'm disputing some of the charges the LA intends to make to the deposit (which should be protected).

No part of the deposit has been returned and the LA claims that so far they have not been able to contact the landlord regarding the disputed charges.

Is there a timescale for return of any undisputed part of the deposit? Or can it be retained until all disputed deductions are settled?
Is there anything I can do to make things move faster?

Any undisputed funds should be repaid to you immediately, once you lodge a dispute with the relevant deposit company, they will instruct the agency to send the disputed funds to them so they can act as an intermediary.

You need to check the exact agreement as it varies depending on which deposit company is used. The details should be on the 'prescribed information' supplied within 14 days of paying the deposit.

      Thanks for the quick reply.
That's what I was inferring from other posts but wasn't sure...
