The department of work and pensions are saying we are living together as husband and wife because...
    1. we share a common interest
    2. we socialise together on rare occations
    3. I sold my 4 bed house and as he moved with me on a temp basis until his new lodgings were ready it is seen by them that he moved with me... just before he was moving to his new lodgings his new landlord was killed in an accident and as i had a spare room as my son moved to his dads in derby he stayed as my lodger.
    4. because he puts the bin out sometimes.. when i have forgotten
    5. cause when i have made a large dinner he has some but they say i cook for hin as a husband and wife do when explained that we do not sleep together and we both have had relationships they seemed to have if ignored the fact...
he did use my address for his important post when he moved over this way for a better job until he had perminant residence so they are now saying he lived with me even though he didn't .......... am i just too good natured and it has now got me in strife.......

Yes, with your permission. Contact BT or whoever provides your own line, if you have one.

Hope you can help need some advice regarding what is perceived as a land lady/ lodger relationship...
I have a lodger who is a good friend he has his own room, but shares the bathroom ect... We have a common interest in motorbikes and do go out with a group of other bikers on ride outs and bike meets ..on rare occasions go out to evening events with mutual biking friends.
We have a lodger agreement and everything is working well. however i do have a couple of questions
Can a lodger have his own telephone line that he pays for
    Can he have sky tv

My tenant is on rolling contract. Since 18/04 he has not paid the rent only paid a quarter of the owed rent recently. I am ready to serve him s21. Because he is hard to talk to and being dishonest to me. Does the s21 include the time for eviction? You might say 3moths but I will say 2 weeks whatso...

It is not clear yet what is going to happen with evictions. The ban may be extended till the end of the year. It is becoming almost impossible to evict a tenant. The government will make a decision shortly....

    Hi

My tenant was struggling to pay rent, they wanted to move to council house. And asked me to serve notice.
I served them the section 21 Notice on 28Apr2020 and gave them 4 months to vacate the property on 31-Aug

Since then the tenant says he doesn't want to move out...

I understand you are upset but chase the person named on the lease, if they are together still it will impact the both of them so chasing for the CCJ on the named tenant will still impact the one not named as it will carry forward with them if they don't pay right away and when they try and rent again...

Apologies if I have posted this before, but I cannot find my original post, if I did indeed post!
I rented my property to a tenant. I knew at the start of the tenancy that the partner planned to move in at a later date, although the tenant denied the partner ever moved in as I expect they did...

I agree and this is a problem. Very difficult to find someone you can trust that they would do a good job.

It looks like one has to become a solicitor first to be able to deal with solicitors. Solicitors forget half of the things you tell them, make errors, expect...

I can not see you getting anywhere with the ex tenants partner but i totally agree you should chase the non paying tenant until the end of time, its is the previous landlords in not going after the arrears which then caused your tenant to be able to not pay you...... somewhere a stand has to be mad...
