Hi
My new tenant moved into my property in July 2008 on a 6 months lease , it runs out on 27th Jan 2009 and I have agreed with her it will run periodic now on 2 monthly basis with both sides giving 2 months notice either to renew or quite. So it runs now from 27th jan to 27th March, she must give notice on or before 27th Jan if she wishes it to end in March and so on. For information I agreed this back in November, this was my request as i wasnt sure if i would be moving back to the city and wanted to make sure I could retain the property for my use in near future if need be, it also suited her circumstances of not knowing if her partner was relocating to the city with his job.
Her partner has now relocated and would like to be added to the lease as of yesterday 07 jan 2009. However it is not not 6 month short assured, do I need to issue new documents other than a letter which we have both signed and dated back in November agreeing the 2 monthly terms, so how can I add him to a lease? Does it mean I have to issue a new 6 month short assured lease? I wont be moving back within next 6 months. I just want to check before I ask them if they would now prefer to sign 6 month lease.
This property is in Scotland
Regards
Jo
