Hi

I have recently decided to rent out my property and have had several enquiries from migrant workers living in the area. What are the issues in renting to non UK citizens and what if anything should I be especially aware of ?

The obvious one is the likely inabilty to get decent references, and the lack of a credit history in the UK.

If the tenants turn out to be wrong'uns, there's not much chance of you recovering any bad debts once they've done a bunk and disappeared back to Darkest Peru.

Somebody else once pointed out here that they don't rent to non-native-English speakers because of the chances of them suddenly forgetting how to speak English if they should find themselves in court over a dispute in the tenancy "I no understand, Landlord he no explain" and the judge coming down in favour of the tenant accordingly!
