    Guarantors for DSS tenants

    I have new tenants moving in to my property soon and they've both provided guarantors. I used the LZ Guarantor Application forms but they've returned the forms with only the basic details filled in saying that they've not been asked for these before. I have to admit that a lot of the information does seem irrelevant and it's clear the form is almost identical to the tenant application form.

    Both guarantors are retired so all the stuff on pages 2-4 are not relevant, but does this mean I should ask for alternative guarantors?

    Given that one of the guarantors is known to me (for over 15 years) and the other is his ex-wife, what parts of the form (from 'Identification' onward) are important?

    If the guarantors receive an income such as a pension you need the details. You should also get formal ID even though they might be known to you. DSS does not exist and your tenants will be claiming Local Houseng Allowance.
