About the for sales houses offered to >60 years old, are they offered usually on a lifetime lease which means after death there is no inheritance?

I assume there can be various schemes/policies but what is the norm?

If they can be inherited, will then people <60 years old be able to live there?

Age discrimination over property is legal (but still discrimination). They can inherit but not live there.

You can usually inherit but you can't live there, so you're either selling or waiting.
That's based on two such local establishments - it's possible that they're not the norm.

There will be conditions in the lease for these types of properties (based on the age of the occupier). If you breach these conditions then you may forfeit the property.

Wasent there a recent article in a newspaper recently where a lady who was in one of these retirement villages was due to go to a home, she had been there for quite a long time and wanted to sell it (her lease) and had over £100,000 equity and the leaseholder of the retirement village virtually wanted all the equity.

My Brother-in-law inherited a retirement flat for 60+ year olds and I have helped him successfully rent it out.

I m currently selling my mother s flat. The lease says it can t be let and can only be lived in by over 55 s. I presume younger people can own it but people that live in it have to be over 55.
