If T has never seen the LL before how does he know the person on the doorstep is the LL? LR details and ID would be a start. Did he ask why?
Why would a landlord want to do this?

"Signing over" a property isn't a 'thing'.
It sounds like an Americanism, for a start.

You're liable to pay CGT for the period the property wasn't your only or main residence.
As a landlord, you might try and reduce some of the liability for CGT by using the property as a residence to get the additional 9 month's PPR allowance.
But, if your intention is to lie about that kind of thing, it's usually easier just to lie.
When I post, I am expressing an opinion - feel free to disagree, I have been wrong before.
Please don't act on my suggestions without checking with a grown-up (ideally some kind of expert).

Reason LL gives it is financial benefit for 1 month. Won't say why? He is more shocked that the T won't do it for a month rent free??

Reply to Buying a house - tenant in situ.by jpkeatesYes, some landlords might want to safeguard their tenants.
And there are some very simple ways to do that - a new long fixed term and making all of the information (including payment history) readily available to a potential purchaser.
Because that would deter anyone who planned to live...-
