    Renting process

Hi all. So im going through the process of renting a house. Arranged a viewing with the landlord, said i would like to rent and go to next step. LL said letting agent would be in touch i was told to fill in a APPLICATION which was just very basic info. Personal details landlord ref and work info etc. Return to it letting agent and today i got a text of landlord saying hi u should have the keys and start to move in next tuesday... so now im thinking should i have some sort of agreement/contract i need to see and sign as of yet all i know is move in date and how much rent i will pay each mnth. (Nothing about deposit or upfront rent etc) ir shall i expect to get all this next few days etc.

Yes, you should have a proper agreement that details all of that stuff.
When I post, I am expressing an opinion - feel free to disagree, I have been wrong before.
Please don't act on my suggestions without checking with a grown-up (ideally some kind of expert).

Although in England an unwritten verbal, tenancy is valid:

Perhaps surprisingly in some ways an unwritten tenancy gives tenant better rights (deposit protection, invalidity of s21 etc etc etc..)

Yes, if landlord won;t provide paperwork walk away. He'd be clearly off his head or too stupid to want to do business with.
I am legally unqualified: If you need to rely on advice check it with a suitable authority - eg a solicitor specialising in landlord/tenant law...

Very true, becoming more common I hear.

Why haven't you raised this with the LL or the agent, would seem the logical thing to do in this situation. Advice for both LL and T's if you have any doubts walk away......
