    Neighbours

We’ve recently moved to a new property and every day before the bins are due to be put out the neighbours wheel their bin over to the side of our house and leave it there by our bins. This is annoying as their bins are really full and smell and no one else in the close does this. It’s like they are expecting us to put their bin out for them. They live right across the street aswell. What shall we do? Every wheels their bins outside their house the evening before but this couple always just leave their bin right my ours no where near their house.

Maybe wheel then back to their side of the street and see if they stop doing it

Ask them, politely, why they are doing that.

Why would they drag the bin across the street unless they think it's necrssary?

Some councils insist that bins are 'clustered' rather than one outside each property, or want all bins on the left side of the street so the collectors don't have to keep crossing the road (elf & safety for them but they don't care if you get run over putting it out).

In the place I've just moved from if I didn't put my refuse across the road they would just leave it.

Ask them if there's a reason they do this (not in a confrontational way).

          I agree.
          Give them their bin back.

Or put the bins out of sight and then put them back where they left them when the other bins have been emptied.

It's interesting, because my council wouldn't collect more than one bin per house.
When I post, I am expressing an opinion - feel free to disagree, I have been wrong before.
Please don't act on my suggestions without checking with a grown-up (ideally some kind of expert).

Where the bins are put, are they on e.g. a public footpath or in the private part of either property?

Used to live somewhere where there were houses and flats and about 30 bins lined up, jumbled up, outside various houses, waiting for bin lorry. Who cares which bin is outside what house

Artful:. Bin man in 1960s.... (Bins carried on shoulders then ...)
I am legally unqualified: If you need to rely on advice check it with a suitable authority - eg a solicitor specialising in landlord/tenant law...

I have seen something similar in an area i work in, what a pain the backside it is for the houses they are outside of, there are loads of bins pushed up the road and then they all sit outside a few houses, when the bins have been emptied they are deposited where they were picked up, which means they stay there most of the day until the flat/house owners return, if i lived in the few houses they were placed outside i would be less than pleased, every time you arrive home in the car you have a sea of bins to move (and they are not yours !!)
