Landlord must keep tenants for 2 years wef now

I want to relet but have been told I must keep the tenants for at least 2 years so the ability to give 6 months notice after 4 months is no longer possible.
    Is this correct?

Not if you're in England or Wales.
You can serve notice after 4 months (it's currently six months notice, so the effective minimum would be 10 months).
When I post, I am expressing an opinion - feel free to disagree, I have been wrong before.
Please don't act on my suggestions without checking with a grown-up (ideally some kind of expert).

Does tenant's tenancy have 2 more years fixed term to run?

Which authority informed you of the 2 year min limit, please?
I am legally unqualified: If you need to rely on advice check it with a suitable authority - eg a solicitor specialising in landlord/tenant law...
