    Tenants Checkout Fee's

    Hi

My new tenants are due to hand back their previous home in the next couple of days. They had been in the property 4 years and their last tenancy agreement was signed on 26th May 2019.

The agency have told them that they will have to pay £90 each (£180), for an end of tenancy checkout. I'm almost certain the no-fees ban came into effect 1st of June 2019.

Does anyone know if the tenants can still be charged this fee?

Yes, as far as the Tenant Fees Act is concerned. Was the fee displayed by the agent as required, and was it agreed with the tenant when the tenancy started?

My understanding is that fees can be charged to tenants up to 31 May 2020 if it was agreed before 1 June 2019.
