    Tenant Fees Act (2019)

    Hi To all,

I was wondering how the new Tenant fee act that will start from 1st June 2019 apply on existing AST's that was done beforehand.
I am renting a flat and I am moving out on the 3rd of June 2019.
We enter the flat on 14th of October 2017.
In the contract, there was the normal clause that the tenant is liable for the check out inventory reasonable costs.
My managing agent wants us to pay £164 for the inventory.
As I am managing properties my self, I know the prices that Inventory clerks charge normally and I think that it is an excessive amount.
It is a big agency from London so I think I can respond to them with the fact that since we are moving out after the 1st of June the new act applies to us

    What do you guys think?
Did anyone already dealt with this subject or similar situation

I look forward to your respond

    Thanks

    Alon

    See S30 Tenant Fees Act.

It is worrying that you manage properties but do not know the law.

The act doesn't affect the fees in your tenancy, as they were agreed before it became law.

That fee does sound unreasonable and I'd challenge it on the basis you know how much is reasonable.
