    Deposit Dispute

    Hello all,

I have a deposit dispute which is now with TDS and I am supposed to submit my side of the story soon. I'd like to get some advice on the situation below.

Following my move out of the apartment, the inventory report was sent to me by the agent three weeks later (Despite me asking for the report multiple times). Following the receipt of the report, I raised issues with the report. However, these were ignored by the agent and they sent me a large amount to be withheld from the deposit.

I again went back to the agent and pushed them to justify why the charges were unreasonable and to also give me a justification for each of the amounts. However, again I got no answer. Then, I received an email from the agent saying that the dispute had been filed with TDS and I should speak to TDS about any issues.

So despite my chasing the agent to get a justification for the withheld amount, I got no answer from them and now I have to present evidence to TDS.

Within my TDS dispute application, my focus will be on how the agent has not answered any questions of mine and this just goes to shows that the charges were unreasonable. This goes to show the charges were without basis and just a way to take money off me - I have email evidence to prove the above. Do you think this is a valid point? Is there anything else my application should be focused on?

I would suggest just a one liner saying that you have not received any details of how the claim was calculated. and to what it relates. My impression is that the scheme will insist on those details, and I assume they will provide them to you.

Don't get involved in character assassination of the landlord or agent.
