I have given notice to my landlord to leave the property on 31 March - since the new rules requiring deposits to be registered I have no idea of the process involved in getting your deposit back. Previously landlords have always inspected the property on the day I've left and returned the due deposit back to me - but if the deposit is being held by someone else I assume there will be a delay in receiving it? This could create some real problems for me as I need my current deposit to smoothly move into my next place - can I have some advice on this - how long does it take to get your deposit back? Is there any way of speeding up the process?
Return of deposit - what's the new process?

by matty_huntHi. I have a AST ending soon. The easiest option is to let it run into a monthly SPT. However, I am not clear on what paperwork needs to be issued in this case. The tenant has a guarantor, and deposit is protected. Some articles Ive read suggested that an SPT is a 'new' contract in its own right, thus...

by Hudson01I never like these mutually beneficial arrangements, they tend to start off very well meaning then run into all sorts of problems, i like to keep things very formal and very separate.

Else, you would have to give the PI again. Whether the deposit remains protected will depend on the scheme you went with, and possibly...

by DPT57There are 3 things to consider:
- How to Rent has changed recently so as Ash72 says, you will need to re-serve this on the tenant.
- If you have a tenant deposit in an insured scheme, you may need to check whether the insurance/status needs updating
- As an SPT is a new tenancy,...-
