    Compensation for tenants

I am a freeholder of a property with two maisonettes in London. The leaseholder in the top flat wants extensive works to be carried out . I have initially granted permission but the works are estimated to take at least 18 weeks to be completed. This involves scaffolding around the whole property. My tenants downstairs will obviously have disruption and also less light in the flat
and small back garden . I think it unfair for them to suffer this without some discount in rent during the works . Am I within my rights to ask for compensation from the leaseholder for my tenants ?

I (& the country) can ask Johnson for compo for the incompetent management of Covid giving UK "World beating" huge deaths per million. Yes, you can ask. Of course.

Certainly think it fair for tenants to expect compo from their landlord.
I am legally unqualified: If you need to rely on advice check it with a suitable authority - eg a solicitor specialising in landlord/tenant law...
