    permitted development for garage

Hi,I own a paddock sized piece of land directly on the opposite of my lane to my property to which my house is on,it is a public highway, i would like to build a double garage to keep my classic cars in there are no dwellings on that side of the lane just fields and paddocks, my question is can i build the garage under permitted development without asking my local council?.

Best you ask the Council - either you do that and get the facts or you start building and somebody reports you to the council .........

Permitted development applies to land within the curtilage of a dwelling house.

You will need to make a planning application because your paddock on the other side of the road will not meet the legal definition of curtilage.

On another web-site this appeal was posted that was all about the definition of the curtilage of a dwelling house.
