Is it possible to convert a lounge into a room?

    Hello

Is it possible to convert a lounge into a room?
Do I need planning permission, how much it will cost? I do not need permanent walls to separate it, it could be via other structures like collapsible doors etc.

    Thanks!

If its for a lodger no problem. If its to let another room check if you need HMO licence and if you meet the HMO space standards. . Quite often it can be done around the existing sockets and light switches etc. Just need to stud wall it off. Collapsible doors are a NO if you want someone to live there. Add a door and a door frame and locks. And there you go! No more that £400 in materials. Just add labour and do what you can yourself. If you have to add light switches and more sockets then add £100 odd.

I think a lounge already is a room.
