    Part Wall Agreement

We have an old (built in 1890's)3 storey town house which we own and use the income as our pension. The neighbours now want to put in a loft conversion and want a party wall agreement, they are pressing heavily for no survey to save money but I'm not convinced. They say any damage will be covered by the builder's insurance. I also am wondering that if they do any damage which results in loss of earnings to us then we'd also like to be covered? What are people's thoughts?

    thanks

I believe that technically they only have to give 'notice' but if you have any concerns then you can demand a survey.

As yours is an older property I would insist on a survey with inspection before commencement and after completion.

A party wall surveyor will be able to advise.

Definitely get a survey done and get them to pay. Claiming off builders insurance! What a load of chancers.
