Tradesman faked accreditation. Any specific legislation to cover this?

I recently employed an electrician who claimed to be accredited. The work he carried out was sub standard and I later found out he falsified his accreditation. I want to pursue this matter legally. Is there any specific legislation which I can fall back on?

I was wondering if Trading Standards ( contact local council for address ) will take up this matter and investigate.

Qualified electricians are able to test and certify electrical installations BUT cerificates would be useless/invalid if the certifier is not qualified

There are contractual remedies and it is criminal to carry out many electrical works without qualification, as well as a breach of public law eg building regs and failure to obtain consent or certify.

      What work did he do?
Based on the information posted, I offer my thoughts.Any action you then take is your liability. While commending individual effort, there is no substitute for a thorough review of documents and facts by paid for professional advisers.

Think I'd reporting the ly*ng b*st*rd to trading standards, council, Police for fraud (in writing/email to "encourage" plod not to forget to record the crime, whatever body he claimed to be an accredited member of then sue the cr**k through SCC for whatever he charged you. This latter start with LBA (letter before action) - exemplars on CaB website...

It would be a shame if anyone & everyone got to hear of this crook & someone went round with a b*s&b&ll bat. Someone could have been hurt/died from his dangerous work...
I am legally unqualified: If you need to rely on advice check it with a suitable authority - eg a solicitor specialising in landlord/tenant law...
