What does Professional Indemnity Cover us for as a letting's agent?

Different insurance companies & policies will provide different cover.

Ask your current insurer what his options are. Do you as a letting agent not have this?

I am legally unqualified: If you need to rely on advice check it with a suitable authority - eg a solicitor specialising in landlord/tenant law...

We first need to establish whether what you had was a fixed or periodic term. Did the agreement grant a term of six months and then go on to say it continued, or just keep to granting six months?

With at least one deposit scheme, you have to log in and change the type of tenancy to 'periodic' once the AST term has ended.

That's what they're charging £50 for. Excessive, in my opinion, as it takes a couple of minutes to do....

A sixth month fixed term is preferred in my view for the reason given above.

I have never been charged by an agent for continuing the deposit protection on a tenancy when it goes periodic.
