LAgents taking Landlord to small claims. Can anyone recommend a solicitor?

Hi, my Agent is taking me to small claims for not paying renewal fee upfront.

I refuse as my tenants have changed to a new rolling monthly contract.

I'm not in the UK and hoping for some legal advice and/or representation.

Can anyone recommend a solicitor or firm that might be able to help.

Its against forum rules to recommend solicitors, but I wouldn't have thought you would need a specialist housing solicitor in this case as its essentially a contract issue between you and the agent.

Hi, what is the amount of monies disputed? You could use mediation and could bring the case up.
And if they still insist then pay and break contract with them as it would be cheaper than pay for solicitors.

I personally would defend the claim. Also, make sure that the agent serves you at your address abroad unless you would like to be served in the UK. If they deliberately serve you in the UK, you can apply for a strike-out of the case.

Is your agent managing the property, in which case it is petty to charge you for a renewal fee.

Yes, 100 without hearing and 255 with hearing. If the LA was found to be abusing the process, the court can impose sanctions including asking them to pay all legal costs
