    Including spouse

    Hi everyone
im looking for a bit of advice please.
I own a rental property without a mortgage. At the moment it is all in my name and I am a 20% tax payer.
My wife was made redundant and has been unable to get another job ( being on the wrong side of 55 hasn’t helped!)
So consequently she is a non tax payer as she has no income.
I am thinking of transferring 50% of the property and rental income to her to reduce our tax liability and also to reduce CGT when we eventually sell.
I’m not sure how to go about doing this and the costs involved. Do I need the services of a conveyancing solicitor or is there a DIY route?
    Thank you

You can do it yourself, but I really wouldn't.
It's basically a gift with no tax implications, but there is a transfer of property involved.
When I post, I am expressing an opinion - feel free to disagree, I have been wrong before.
Please don't act on my suggestions without checking with a grown-up (ideally some kind of expert).

This website has a lot of information about your situation ( for reading only ) but its better to find a local conveyancing solicitor :
