    green deal

ive been offered a free boiler change

    related to the green deal

i wonder why companies would offer to change my boiler and do insulation works for free?

these works could cost up to £10,000 if i were to do them on my own

can someone shed some light on this?

    thanks

The green deal is essentially a loan that you repay through your utility bills, so certainly not free.
If you qualify I believe you could get a new boiler for free through the ECO scheme.

I would be amazed if they paid 100% of the cost of the new boiler. I thought it was just a proportion.

These government schemes have always been open to abuse.
From memory, it was Warmfront that always put in under powered,
the cheapest available, not up to the job boilers.
My mom and many others got free boilers ( absolutely free ) ,but
after a year, they packed up.
Many a complaint in the press and interent.

So don't expect to get a decent, long lasting boiler.
But maybe the government will do better this time ( Have heard that
for the last 20 years )

If you can't afford to maintain your property, then you should not
        be in business.
