You have at least 3 other options...
    a) Very (VERY!) expensive internet access by satellite 'phone..
    b) More expensive than landline internet by mobile-broadband from any number of mobile 'phone networks.. (I use this when temporarily staying in houses during voids or refurbs..)
    c) Getting Virgin to install fibre-optic BB . EG I provide this in one house, together with TV, but not a 'phone.

Suspect cheapest option is landline & Broadband, not necessarily from BT. But your choice...

    Cheers!
I am legally unqualified: If you need to rely on advice check it with a suitable authority - eg a solicitor specialising in landlord/tenant law...

if you have access to virgin cabling (put your postcode into their website) you can have just virgin broadband on its own (no landline or tv required)
