    Transfer to Russian national

    a potential client called me today. In the New Year he has instructed us to let his property, however due to tax reasons he wishes to tsf the title deeds of the property into his step-daughters name.

    However she is Russian, will this be an issue as she is a foreign national?

    Thanks in advance.

    Check on the Land Registry for details (It will cost you just £3) of ownership.

    There is no problem if ownership changes other than possibly one of communication, S.48 requirements, and income tax liability; you have to ask yourself do you really want this buisness, and only you can answer it.
    The advice I give should not be construed as a definitive answer, and is without prejudice or liability. You are advised to consult a specialist solicitor or other person of equal legal standing.

      Is the Russian lady living in:
      a. Russia;
      b. England/Wales; or
      c. somewhere else?

        Jeffrey - She is living in UK.

        Paul - Communication wont be a problem - they speak far better english than most UK citizens! S48 will be ok as she is living in UK and we dont deal with the tax side so will just charge her our fees and VAT.

        Thanks for your advice.

          Thanks. Presumably the Transfer will be completed before the Letting?
